Going Full Circle
What a strange but cool feeling to be down on the dock with other parents that have kids competing in the event and who were all great young skiers when I started competing many years ago. You can say it has gone full circle for all of us and this is how how parents would have felt when they took us along to our first water ski competitions.

Brenda Baldwin had her two girls competing in Girls 1, Kristen & Brooke Baldwin.
Sergio Font from Mexico had his two boys competing Patricio & Diego Font.
Matt Rini had his two girls at the event, but I believe only Paige was competing.
It is so cool to be at the start dock with our kids and be there for them when they are starting out in the sport.

Sam Fisher's first ever Tournament
Sam Fisher is excited but nervous to be skiing in his first ever slalom competition Saturday morning May 15th 2010. Sam is 11 years old, which is the same age I was when I entered my first tournament. We were all so excited to go and support him. Mario Andres will also be skiing his first tournament since he has been training with us. Mario has worked very hard over the past three months to change his technique and he is far more comfortable and consistent on his ski. We wish the boys a great competition, good luck fella's

Father & Son together for the weekend
Mario senior is in town to spend the weekend with his boy, Mario Andres has been staying with us now for 4 months and his skiing has come a long way since arriving.
Also Nacho Gomez from Mexico stayed with us for 2.5 school years and has come back again for a 10 day training visit.

Nacho is laughing now, but 15 minutes before I took this shot he was not laughing after the velcro tape released and his bindings came off of his slalom when crossing the wakes and he landed at around 60 miles a hour butt first!

The boys go longer with their ski in the pursuit to jump further!
Mario jumps on to Nacho's 86" jump skis and Nacho jumps on to Gerard's 90" skis. Mario has improved a great deal from only having jumped pinky a few times prior to arriving in Orlando. Mario is definitely ready for longer skis and he jumped his best around 32 meters. Nacho also ready for longer skis now as he is 6' tall and still growing, although he has not jumped for a year since he was training with us last. He looks great on the 90's though!

Nacho's back jumping and tricking
Nacho has been back in school in Cancun Mexico for the past year, the windy conditions there over the past year have prevented Nacho from being able the continue his jump training and also not having anyone to release for his toehold tricks has meant a long period of time without training these events. It'll be interesting to see how much muscle memory he has kept and how much technique he can remember. Stay tuned for up dates in his training over the next 10 days.

Nacho Gomez is back!
It's fantastic to have Nacho Gomez back staying and training with us for the next 10 days. Nacho first came to stay and train with us for a full school year, learn English and train in all 3 events after school. Nacho ended up actually staying with us for two and a half school years and his skiing really improved.
