Magazine article will go into more detail. All skiers should be
looking for the most efficient way to cross the course, you should not
have to be pulling your heart out to make it across early enough to
make the next buoy.
The best way for all skiers to make it across the course with less
intencity is to stand on their ski with even weight on both binding,
whether you are trying to ski treditional or west coast the key is
still the same. Stand in the middle of your ski and not toward the
tail. Ask your self the question what are you feeling with your weight
distribution between your feet? The easiest way to find the middle of
your ski, is to rotate the chest and bellybutton forward toward to
line up with the tip and center line of your ski. Find the center line
of your ski and follow it across the course on the path that your want
your ski to take in order to make it around the buoys and you will
find the middle of your ski (the sweat spot) making you far more
efficient. This is actually what the pro are trying to achieve with
all styles, it's not about what you do with your upper body when
getting started in slalom skiing, it's how you stand on you ski that
will make the difference. Try following your ski rather than the boat
and you'll find yourself burning much less energy and effort, give it
a chance and I think you will be amazed at the difference!
Follow Your Ski remeber that!
to get across
